COVID-19 Urgent Communique

Dear Members,

As the threat of the COVID-19 virus becomes a reality for Mauritius, a committee has been set up with the Judiciary to review the situation as it progresses. You will appreciate that, in view of the uncertainty surrounding the virus and its consequences, and as we understand impending decisions are to be taken at government-level, we are unable to issue more detailed directives as yet.

In the meantime, we have taken the initiative to speak with the Magistrates Association and have been assured of their cooperation.

Consequently, barristers are invited to act responsibly in asking postponement of their cases on account of the virus, giving priority to urgent matters.

We will keep you updated via the MBA App and website.
